Kashmir Solidarity Day Observed
To express solidarity with the Valiant people of Jammu & Kashmir, Pakistan Embassy organized a Seminar on the “Plight of Kashmiris in Indian Occupied Kashmir, the new BJP Government and the future of Kashmir Dispute”. Ambassador Syed Hasan Javed while addressing the participants of the Seminar said that the voice of the people of Jammu & Kashmir for their self-determination could not be suppressed by force. Kashmiris were destined to succeed in their legitimate struggle as the soul of freedom was for ever to live. He reiterated the continuation of Pakistan’s moral, diplomatic and political support to the Kashmiri people for their struggle for their inalienable right to self-determination. The Ambassador stressed the need for early solution of this long outstanding issue on the agenda of the UN Security Council for a durable peace in the region. Other Speakers appealed to the German political leadership, Human rights Organizations and media persons to listen to the voice of the Kashmiris people who were being subjected to grisly human right abuses for decades. They have been deprived of the right to self-determination as enshrined in the UN Charter. Kashmiri Speakers particularly commended Pakistan’s valuable diplomatic and moral support for the legitimate cause of Kashmiris. They lamented that major powers were showing indifference to their cause for economic and commercial considerations and pledged to continue their support for the just cause of Kashmiri people. Dr. Michael Gottlob of Amnesty International highlighted the human rights violations being committed by the Indian occupied forces and called for withdrawal of draconian laws specifically framed to subjugate the people of Kashmir A documentary on human rights violations in IHK was also shown on this occasion. A demonstration by the Pakistani and Kashmiri community living in Berlin and its adjoining areas will also be held on Saturday, February 7 at a busy street of Berlin to draw the attention of the international community towards the plight of the people of Indian held Kashmir.
