Kashmir Black Day
Institute for Cultural Diplomacy (ICD),Berlin organized a Seminar to mark the 27 October as the Kashmir Black Day.Speaking on this occasion Ambassador Abdul Basit said that a permanent settlement of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute in accordance with the relevant UN Security Council resolutions was a sine qua non for a viable and lasting peace in South Asia. The legitimate struggle of Kashmiris for self-determination is destined to succeed; the soul of freedom cannot be suppressed.Dr.Michael Gottlob of Amnesty International gave a vivid account of human rights violations in the Indian-held Kashmir. President of the Institute,Dr.Mark Donfried highlighted the grisly human rights situation in the Indian-held Kashmir.A one-minute silence was observed by the audience to pay homage to the kashmiri people who sacrificed their lives for the sake of freedom of their homeland besides screening of documentary film showing genesis of Kashmir dispute,Valiant struggle of Kashmiri people against the occupying forces, and human rights violations.
