Organized a seminar titled “Peace in South Asia”
The Embassy of Pakistan, in collaboration with ICD, organized a seminar titled “Peace in South Asia”. The gathering was very well attended. Ambassador, Jauhar Saleem in his remarks on the occasion, briefed the audience about the factors impeding peace and progress in South Asia -- primarily the unresolved dispute of Jammu and Kashmir. . He underscored, that Indian occupation forces, during the recent surges, had used brutal tactics of repression including the pallet guns due to which thousands have been left blinded or sustained serious eye-injuries. He said the peaceful resolution of Kashmir dispute in accordance with the UN Resolutions, taking into account the aspirations of the Kashmiri people, would create conducive atmosphere for durable peace and stability in the South Asian region and resolution of the problem. The Ambassador also touched upon the viable solutions presented by Pakistan to root out the menace of terrorism from the region through enhancing mutual trust and cooperation between Pakistan and Afghanistan. He also touched upon CPEC noting that it was the frontline project of China's One Belt One Road (OBOR) initiative with great potential to rapidly modernize the region’s infrastructure and economy. A video documentary about the ongoing brutalities in Indian Occupied Kashmir (IOK) was shown to the audience. A sampling of Pakistan cuisine was also presented to the guests to much delight.
