Independence Day Parade
To commemorate the 70th anniversary of Pakistan, the Embassy of Pakistan organized the Independence Day Parade/get-together on 8th August 2017 at the iconic tourist venue ‘Brandenburg Gate’ in Berlin. More than 500 Pakistani community members, including Germans, tourists’ women and children, wearing beautiful Pakistani attire participated in the parade. Banners and Pakistani flags added to the beauty of the place and the whole venue turned into a scene of colourful Pakistani cultural show. The tourists of many countries visiting the place were amazed by the beauty of Pakistani culture and also joined the party. The icing on the cake was participation of world famous British Pakistani dhol player Rani Taj, who was specially invited by the Embassy for the event. Her heart-throbbing dhol beats charged the whole crowd. Pakistanis, old and youngs alike, indulged in Bhangra and other traditional dances on rhythmic dhole beats of Rani Taj. A car decorated with famous Truck Art of Pakistan was a major attraction for the audience who appreciated it very much and took photos. Speaking on the occasion, Ambassador Jauhar Saleem welcomed the audience and touched upon the ideals and aspirations which led to the creation of Pakistanis and are still guiding light for the nation’s march to peace and progress. He added that Pakistan is often misrepresented by the media but in reality it is a country where human values, arts, culture, social media and film industry are all flourishing. The participants were served with fresh mango beverages and paratha rolls. The event was covered by Pakistani as well as international media.
