Special seminar "Kashmir Black Day"
The Embassy of Pakistan held a special seminar today to express solidarity with the oppressed people of Indian Occupied Jammu & Kashmir on the occasion of Black Day being observed by Pakistan to condemn the brutalities by Indian armed forces against innocent and unarmed civilians in Indian Occupied Kashmir. The event was attended by a sizable number of Kashmiri and Pakistani communities. The gathering was addressed by prominent Pakistani/Kashmiri community members. The Kashmir speakers highlighted the miserable plight of Kashmiris living in the occupied valley and wide spread human rights violations committed by the Indian troops. They lamented that the world powers had turned a blind eye to the just cause of Kashmir, to save their economic and commercial interests. Ambassador H.E Mr. Jauhar Saleem in his remarks observed that Kashmir could not be kept under unlawful occupation by India indefinitely; using brutal force, and that the struggle of the Kashmiri people for their legitimate right of self-determination was destined to succeed. He added that the world community owed it to the people of Kashmir to put pressure on India to deliver on its pledge made to the United Nations 68 years ago and give the right of self-determination to the people of the valley. He reiterated Pakistanís commitment to a just and peaceful resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute, based on UN resolutions. Documentaries highlighting human rights violations in the occupied valley were also shown on this occasion.
