Lecture by Ambassador at ICD
“South Asia Politics, Cultural, Economic Potential and Challenges" The Embassy of Pakistan Berlin organized a lecture by Ambassador Jauhar Saleem, at the Institute of Cultural Diplomacy (ICD) on 16 February, titled, “South Asian politics, culture, economic potential and challenges”. This was part of a series of lectures by the Ambassador in connection with Kashmir Solidarity Day. The earlier lecture was organized at the Institute of South Asian Studies of Humboldt University on 4th February, titled “Challenges of Security in South Asia- Hope for the future,” followed by a seminar on Kashmir Solidarity Day at the Embassy on 5th February. The lecture was attended by a large number of students, scholars, researchers, faculty members, journalists and government officials, focused on the overall political and security situation in South Asia, its cultural richness, economic potential, numerous challenges and road map for future peace and stability. In the context of Pakistan-India relations, the two biggest countries of the region, the Ambassador spoke at length about challenges posed to lasting peace in South Asia by non-resolution of Kashmir dispute. He also threw light on Pakistan’s contribution for peace and reconciliation in Afghanistan. He emphasised that the huge economic potential of the region could only be unleashed through greater cooperation and understanding between the regional countries. The lecture generated immense interest particularly among the young students of the Institute, coming from different countries around the world, leading to a lively debate lasting for about two hours.
