High Level Exchange of Visits

The Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif visited Germany on the invitation 19th June to 22nd June 2016.

The Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif visited Germany on the invitation of his counterpart Lieutenant General Jorg Vollmer, Chief of German Army from 19th June to 22nd June 2016. On arrival at the Ministry of Defence, a contingent of German Army presented Guard of Honor to COAS followed by wreath-laying at Ministry of Defence War Memorial. Besides holding meeting with his German counterpart, the COAS also had detailed meetings with Minister of Defence and Federal Foreign Minister.

Speaker of the National Assembly, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, visited Berlin from 4-8 July, 2016.

Speaker of the National Assembly, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, visited Berlin from 4-8 July, 2016, on the invitation of the President of Bundestag, Prof. Norbert Lammert. The visit was a reflection of strong linkages, and frequent exchanges, between the Parliaments of Germany and Pakistan. During his stay in Germany, Speaker Ayaz Sadiq called on Chancellor Angela Merkel; and discussed parliamentary relations and bilateral cooperation between the two countries; as well as Afghanistan and Kashmir.

The third round of strategic dialogue between Pakistan and Germany was held in Berlin on August 17, 2016. Foreign Secretary Mr. Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry led the Pakistani delegation, while the German side was led by State Secretary Mr. Markus Ederer. Both sides held detailed discussions on issues of mutual interest, including economic cooperation, defence, trade, investment, culture, education, security and strategic stability. They agreed to enhance cooperation between the two countries in all areas, particularly in the area of trade and economic cooperation.The two sides also reviewed in detail the regional situation including Afghanistan, the Middle East and latest developments in the EU. Mr. Chaudhry apprised his counterpart of the latest situation in Indian Occupied Kashmir and urged the international community to play its role in calling on India to put an end to blatant human rights violations in the Valley.
